One of the biggest problems you run into when modifying a 3400 Grand Am for high horsepower is the limitations of the stock cooling system. This radiator that we've developed is designed to solve these problems. We start with a bar and plate heat exchanger core, which is much more efficient than the standard tube and fin design. Intercoolers for turbo systems are made using bar and plate heat exchangers. The radiator is also 2 1/4" thick instead of the stock 5/8", so it has much more capacity than the stock radiator. The endtanks are also designed so that the coolant makes 3 passes through the length of the radiator before escaping at the other end. The radiator is available with or without an internal transmission cooler. Stock fans will not directly bolt to this radiator, so we suggest the use of slimmer aftermarket electric fans, and offer an option to add them to your purchase. The Spal fans we use are only 2" thick at the thickest point, and cover the entire length of the radiators surface.
